Soulgarden Yoga with Heather Berg | December 5 -6
Friday 12/5 Vinyasa from 5:30-7pm, $25
The practice itself is often considered a “moving meditation”. Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement,: and Vinyasa yoga is a seris of poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling. Vinyasa movements are smoothly flowing and almost dance-like, which explains why it is sometimes referred to as Vinyasa Flow or just Flow.

Saturday, 12/6 Yin from 10:30-11:30am, $25
Yin Yoga works on a very deep level to awaken the connective tissue (fascia) of your body. Studies have shown that it’s not just muscles that need conditioning as we age, but the fascia needs attention to avoid stiffening that takes place in our bodies as we get older or whenever we engage in vigorous physical activity. The key to the Yin Yoga is 3 fold: take the shape of the pose, find stillness in the pose, and hold the pose for 3 to 5 minutes. Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to Vinyasa Yoga as well as running, Spinning, or outdoor cycling.  The Yin practice includes powerful mental and emotional benefits as its practitioner becomes quiet, still and mindful of the present.

TRUNK SHOW: batiks from bali & hand-made malas:  friday @ 7pm after vinyasa & saturday 11:30am after yin.

Akshara Ayurveda News | Shirodhara
Shirodhara is an ancient Ayurvedic healing practice performed in India for over 5,000 years. The word shirodhara breaks down into two ideas: “shiro,” meaning head, and “dhara,” which means flow. Together they form a concept that aims to bring physical and emotional balance by rejuvenating the spirit and preserving health. This is achieved through a relaxing technique in which warmed oil is poured over a client’s forehead for an extended period of time. Shirodhara is traditionally used to calm the nerves, harmonize vata constitutions, restore the nerves, release stored emotions, and purify the mind. In Ayurvedic Medicine, it is considered an important tool in the pursuit of higher states of consciousness. Shirodhara has been traditionally shown to help with fatigue, mental exhaustion, anxiety, insomnia, some mental disorders, headache, excessive thinking, nervousness, and many other conditions commonly affecting persons in today’s active lifestyle. 90 minute session is $100.
